The photos

Le mas d’Uzès welcomes you in a beautiful garden surrounded by a very quiet and wooded neighborhood : one of the nicest parts of Uzès, close to the Haribo museum.

Le mas d’Uzès : main building
The swimming pool

Once a family farm, le mas d’Uzès is located in Uzès, 3 km away from the historic center. Buildings have been entirely renovated in 2022, le mas d’Uzès is now divided into three air-conditioned apartments. It can also be configured as one entity, and rented to one group of up to 17 persons.

The other facade

A Historical building, le mas d’Uzès was once the first built area of the neighborhood, only surrounded by its own fields. It is now located in the middle of a 5000m² resort, with a pleasant garden and a 12X8m swimming pool. A very large car park can accommodate up to 10 vehicles.

The orchard

Divided by stone walls, the fields of ‘le mas d’Uzès’ used to cover the biggest part of the current Carrignargues area, a Southern suburb of Uzès. Each of these ancient fields houses now a family home with a large garden including olive trees, umbrella pines, cypresses, laurels, agaves and other mediterranean plants or trees.

The park

The 5000m²-garden is nowadays divided into several parts : the ‘meadow’, the ochard, the olive grove, the pool and its beach and… the ‘forest’.

Flat stones at the ‘olive grove’

Under the premises runs the Roman aqueduct, which used to channel its fresh water from a source still springing in a neighbour valley. Romans organised for their aqueduct a water flow which went underground on the major part of its way heading from Uzès to Nîmes. Regarding le mas d’Uzès, the ancient aqueduct still runs underground from West to East. Its only visible remains are big flat stones which were used by the Romans to protect the water pipe. During the Middle Ages it was common practice to extract and raise these flat stones in order to separate properties. Some of them still separate the olive grove from the rest of the property.
